   hello,
   i've got some problem while exporting with the photocast template.
   on each album a try, it freeze during export when approching 100 pictures ?
   bug or feature ;)

   This sounds like generally pushing the software beyond it's tested purpose. Does it freeze when loading the display window, or does it freeze when starting the actual export? How far does it get? I'll try doing some optimization on it. I've been thinking of converting over to Aperture, which would make a lot of the translation stuff I have to do much faster.

   i intend to use webexport to backup pictures of my weblog ( and more) on ftp server. My dsl provider offers free 10gig ;)

   Maybe the problem comes from that i want to backup files in full size (2048 pixel is set for max width and height).
   even if I just found that are stil compress (jpeg compression ? )….

   Anyway it freezees while processing (scaling, around 90 to 100th pict)

   new testing this week end, setting export size to 300*300.
   no problem to export 120 pictures even iphoto seem to make high cpu usage ;)
   Then i upload original files in teh image directory replacing the 300*300 provided by webexport.
   So i have both backup and photocast for family and friends willing to print pict from original file ;)

   Is there a 'hack' to update the rss (whern adding new photos to an album for ex.) without making a new export ?

   I'll see what I can do… it's probably a memory leak that just gets too bad after that many photos. I should have stress-tested it in that way anyway. When I have a moment, I'll take a look at that.

   As far as a hack that makes it auto-updates an album, well, no, not really. But, if you've noticed, it won't replace images that are already there. So, the secondary exports only take as long as it takes to scale the new images.

   Why dont you make this a plugin for Rapidweaver think it could make u abit of money. As the are some good plugins for Rapid weaver but none of the make Photo cast.

   RapidWeaver is sort of beyond the scope of WebExport. WebExport is designed for high-end users in the sense that you have to have a handle on HTML. RapidWeaver is for general users and imports photos directly from iPhoto. It looks like you could create a template for it that would create a photocast, so a plugin would not be necessary.

   As a full time student, with some software of my own to maintain, it's a little beyond what I can manage at this point in time to create and maintain a theme or plugin for RW. Thanks for the heads up, though. RapidWeaver looks like a neat chunk of code.

   Hey Dan,
   I loved your CustomHTMLExport, and I agree, it was a mouthful. I made the transition to WebExport, and can't figure out for th life of me how to put the date/time on Simpleviewer galleries. (good move to 1.8; much better) That is to say, I could probably do it, but how do I determine the variables from iPhoto?

   The full usage of this command is outlined in the documentation (available online), but the gist of it is:

   date("%a, %d %b %Y %H:%M:%S") with the same format as in CHTML.

   and, of course, you stick that in to a command block.

    Hi Daniel,

    first of all thank for this plugin. I've problems with the software: every time I try to export an album iPhoto freeze. I tried to export 5 tiny pictures without success. CPU usage is up to 80% an I still can't see the dialog box which should appear after clicking on "Export". How can I track down the problem? Are there some debugmessages anywhere?

    There should be some debug messages in Console.app, but there also may not be. Are you using the iPhoto from iLife '05 or '06, or from before? Is there anything strange about the metadata? There may be an issue with whitespace in the tags of the comments. Can you post a sample comment of one of the images?
